Yes, one shot. Michael was the alpha male, a dying breed in books and film today. They both were loved by Linda, such a sweet, feminine and gentle woman. She was abused by her father, neglected by her mother, but chose to be different, better than her parents. Michael was ever so gentle, so tender towards her, was jealous of his best friend, and probably would never intrude on their relationship, for to just see her, love her from a distance, he was drunk and wanted to kiss her, but thought of Nick. What a friend Nick had in him. When Linda tells him she never got a call or a letter, so denied of his love for her, she was forgotten, he knew the war did that, was responsible. The pain he saw her feeling, he felt it too.
In case you forgot, the movie is called, The Deer Hunter. 35:15 is even funnier. This was Meryl Streeps first big role and she was wonderful in it. More so when you consider that a John Cazale, her boyfriend, was suffering from terminal cancer while this was filmed. They did his sevens first, and he died some eight months before the movie was released. DeNiro was great as usual, especially in the scenes with Streep. It would have been a great movie even without the Russian roulette scenes, which I could have done without.

OMG, I watched this back in the day. I remembered John Wayne being so frail but brave and courageous to give his adoring fans and loving cinematic colleagues one last look, as he paid them one last tribute. What I didn"t remember was Francis Ford Coppola"s extreme, off-script, fast rambling stream of consciousness (cocaine is a helluva drug) and Ali McGraw side-glancing him like, WTF? LMFAO! ??.
Hands down this movie has the most gripping and effective ending of any movie ever made. imho. when I saw it in the theatre everybody stood up and cheered. What an experience. This film is amazing. That"s awesome! I would really love to translate this fantastic video and make an italian version of your wonderful channel, let me know if you"re interested in it. I cant remember watching the movie. Why is the aspect ratio off. A lean night. Most boring overrated movie I had to sit through. that"s my analysis. Cimino takes the new wave cinema approach together with his own unique, somewhat Kubrick-like style, and paints a picture that is frighteningly too real for words. The performances are 100% true, the photography of Zigmond is seamless - one senses a camera was planted into real life. The performances are always interesting, and never overdone. The casting is fantastic, each actor works to their extreme.
The lack of the usual Hollywood melodramatic approach and political correctness is extremely welcome here, as it gives the audience a lot of room for it"s own judgements. The understanding of the subject matter is profound. The film shows what an American can expect to find fighting a foreign war, and how a man can become a foreigner for a long time after he comes home.
I love you Nicky. This takes place were I live. Clairton, PA. Near Pittsburgh PA. The deer. the deer-something, I don"t know... Nick showed himself to be a gentle soul in this scene. In a talk with Martin Sheen, Francis reveals that he was fed a marijuana cookie (without him knowing) just before going up on stage, and that he became inspired and that"s why he started rambling about the future of communication and the movies in the 80s.
Here"s to Nick. What Video. Am I crazy. The time when Oscars still had some dignity. It"s too bad that more viewers, who watched the movie, didn"t understand the true moral of the story. It had little to do with the Vietnam war or the traumatic experience that people go through.
